Bia by Codex Beauty Facial Oil, €79 Some local ‘beauty food’ has just been supercharged. Bia Beauty, the natural skincare range by Cork-based herbal scientist Tracey Ryan, was acquired by Codex Beauty last autumn. Beyond sustainable, antoxidant-protecting packaging, American investment grants the Irish brand access to research labs that have seriously enhanced its formulas, in my view. Bia by Codex Beauty launched in New York and LA last month and in Ireland this week. Both companies share a commitment to clean beauty, natural ingredients and ethical trials. All preservatives are plant-based. The line includes a superfood treatment, day cream, an exfoliant and eye gel. My favourite product is this Facial Oil, which is so packed with potent antioxidants and skin-soothing plant extracts that is can replace your serum. Rosehip oil soothes, moisturises and softens the skin with a mix of Vitamins A, C and essential fatty acids. Bog myrtle helps keep pores clear and calm. Sea buckthorn helps retain moisture and improve skin elasticity with its unique combination of vitamins, minerals and Omega-3s. Prickly pear seed oil helps reduce hyperpigmentation. Serrated wrack and baobab oils are also good for keeping skin elastic and supple. Rosemary helps protect against environmental stressors while kiwi seed oil controls sebum production and maintains clarity. The oil has a light texture and absorbs quickly. Available at codexbeauty.com and Meadows and Byrne.
